Michael Vea

Michael Vea   

Michael began his teaching career in 2001 when he joined Teach For America and taught fifth grade at P.S. 128 in Washington Heights, Manhattan. In 2005, he and five remarkable educators founded KIPP Infinity Middle School in Harlem, where he taught 7th Grade American History and 5th Grade Nonfiction Studies. He is a recipient of the Kinder Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Sontag Prize in Urban Education. Michael also served as the Co-Director of U.S. Recruitment and Selection for Teach for the Philippines in 2012.

Michael is a graduate of Northwestern University (B.S. Education and Social Policy) and Pace University (M.S. Education). He is excited to be joining the LitLife team and helping schools to accelerate student learning in all areas of literacy.
