Rebecca Bascio

Prior to joining LitLife, Rebecca Bascio worked in New York City both as a middle school Humanities teacher and as a teacher and Literacy Coach in Manhattan public high schools.   Rebecca holds a BA from the University of Vermont and a Masters in English Education from The Steinhardt School at New York University.

Her work as a Literacy Coach in New York led her to appreciate the ways in which teams of people can come together to create opportunities for change and growth.  During her time as a coach Rebecca took advantage of opportunities for projects that connected her to other schools and educators.  She co-wrote and facilitated ‘Foundations of Literacy in the High School English Classroom,’ a course geared towards new ELA teachers coming into Region 9.  In addition, Rebecca conducted workshops and study groups for teachers and administrators both in her own schools and across the district.

Since leaving the city, Rebecca has been enjoying work as an educational consultant and literacy coach in both urban and suburban schools throughout New Jersey, New York and other districts across the country.  She has created and facilitated a variety of workshops for educators and administrators covering such topics as CCSS, content area literacy, higher order thinking, differentiation, data use, curriculum development and reading and writing workshops.

Rebecca is thankful to find a new home at LitLife where collaboration is valued, potential is nurtured and innovation is promoted.  As she continues to evolve professionally and personally – one thing is for certain – she remains passionate about the work of growing facile and curious readers, writers and thinkers.
