Jaime Lynn Quackenbush is a graduate of SUNY Buffalo’s Graduate School of Education and is currently completing her doctoral work in Curriculum & Teaching at Columbia University's Teachers College. She has taught in public elementary and middle schools in North Carolina, Manhattan, and Westchester County. Prior to joining the LitLife team, Jaime also worked with the Secondary Literacy Institute and Student Press Initiative at Teachers College providing professional development to middle and high schools in Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx.
In her master’s work, Jaime pursued a concentration in reading and literacy, completing coursework in diagnostic and strategic reading instruction and critical literacy while also working as a special education teaching assistant and a clinician in an urban summer reading program. Her work was published in Dr. Janice Almasi’s book Teaching Strategic Processes in Reading. Jaime’s dissertation research explores the use of autobiographical writing as a tool to facilitate teachers’ and students’ understandings of their gendered life stories. Jaime has a particular interest in the reading and writing of adolescent females and how we can inspire and guide girls to become strong and powerful players in society.
