Jaime Margolies is a graduate of American University and the Bank Street College of Education. She has taught in public schools in the Bronx and Westchester County, working with students from K to 5th grade. Jaime’s last teaching assignment was in Ardsley, NY at the Concord Road Elementary School, where the faculty earned a national award for Model Professional Development from the United States Department of Education. It was in this setting that she learned the value of using research, collaboration and reflection to plan for best practice in the classroom. During her work at Concord Road, Jaime joined the LitLife staff working with teachers to better their practice in reading and writing. She has run many workshops on classroom organization and management, leveling libraries, planning and implementing guided reading, effective independent practice and conferring as well as many other topics. She has enjoyed working with teachers and administrators to plan curriculum and create yearlong calendars that meet the needs of specific school districts. Jaime is also the co-author of the book The Complete Year in Reading and Writing: Grade 1 from Scholastic.
